Denial of baseless and mischievous reporting of an alleged 'brawl' amongst two senior players.
PCB - 30 March 1998

It has been reported in a section of the press that the two senior players of the Pakistan Cricket team are involved in a brawl and one of them has threatened to cut the tour short and go back to Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board contacted the Tour Management today and authentically denies such baseless and mischievous press reporting. The team is in high spirits after winning the Test and ODI series against Zimbabwe and is expected to do well in the Triangular Tournament despite (knee) injury to Shoaib Akhtar, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Azhar Mahmood. Their medical reports are being awaited. In the meanwhile the Tour Management Committee has requested to send reinforcement and the matter has been passed onto the selection Committee comprising of Mr. Zaheer Abbas and Mr. Shafiq Ahmed.
