Hampshire's popular seam bowler, Cardigan Connor raised £131,000 on his benefit 1998 Year. He is reported from Anguilla to have been delighted with this result, and looks forward to being fully fit for the forthcoming season.

Hampshire were dealt a blow to their early season hopes, when Michael Kasprowicz their Australian overseas signing was selected for the Triangular tournament in India, meaning he will miss the first month of the season.
