KARACHI, March 26:

The Senate's Standing Committee on Sports will meet the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials at the Gadhafi Stadium on Tuesday.

According to informed sources in Islamabad, the committee will discuss and review the match-fixing allegations against Pakistan cricketers.

When the chairman of the PCB, Khalid Mahmood, was approached, he confirmed that a meeting was being held on March 31. He said he has received the agenda.

``The agenda is something like to review and discuss the match-fixing allegations,'' he said from Lahore.

The committee will also question the PCB chairman Khalid Mahmood as to why he allowed Wasim Akram to join the team in South Africa once the investigations were on against the player.

The PCB will only be represented by its chairman as chief executive, Majid Khan, left here for South Africa on Thursday evening. He is unlikely to be back until April 13.

The Senate's committee will be represented by senators Justice (Retd) Dr Javed Iqbal, Iqbal Haider, Aqil Shah and Sheikh Rafique etc.

Informed sources in the federal capital said senators Iqbal Haider and Aqil Shah, who were assigned the job of probing the cruxof the matter, have succeeded in gathering some relevant information which they will be submitting before their fellow senators.

Sources said the information was not only against Wasim Akram, but also against some other Pakistan team members. ``That's precisely why the agenda (of the meeting) only says investigations of match-fixing allegations against Pakistan cricketers,'' sources said.
