ICC acts on abandoned matches
ICC Media Release May 21, 1998
The major topic for discussion at the two-day meeting on 19th and 20th May of the I.C.C. Cricket Committee chaired by Sir Clyde Walcott. Was the abandoned International matches at Indore (India) and Kingston (Jamaica)
Sir Clyde said, "The Cricket Committee were extremely concerned that the One Day International at Indore and the Test match at Kingston had their International matches abandoned It is the first time that this recently formed committee has had to consider what action in such circumstances should be taken.
The decision of The Committee is that before another One Day International or Test match takes place again at Indore and Kingston, an I.C.C. approved person will be sent to inspect how the pitches are playing at both venues. The square at Kingston has been re-laid following the abandoned Test match in January." © ICC
