The final round of the 24th national cricket championship begins at the Sylhet Stadium this morning with Khulna taking on Rajshahi in the opening match.

A total of ten teams - five qualifiers, Khulna, Rajshahi, Narayanganj, Comilla and Chapainawabganj, last year's semifinalists, Chittagong, Biman, Dhaka and Dhaka University, and hosts Sylhet will take part in the three-week long competition.

Defending champions Chittagong and runners-up Biman have earned automatic qualification for the semifinals while the rest will vie for the other two places through knock-out format which will be 50-over-a-side affairs.

The semifinals will be three-day matches while the final, likely to begin on June 8, will be a tour-day engagement.
