Schools cricket - Scholastica in semis

Scholastica found their way into the semifinals of the 16th national schools cricket Dhaka zonal qualifying round with a convincing seven-wicket win over Pallabi M I Model in their second phase clash at the City Club ground in Mirpur yesterday.

In the day's lone match, Raiyan hammered an unbeaten 43 as Scholastica, chasing a modest Pallabi Model total of 128 in 35 overs, reached 130 in 27.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. The victory also confirmed the winners a berth in the final round.

Raiyan apart, Farhan, who chipped in with 32, was the other notable run-getter for the winners.

Earlier, electing to bat, Pallabi M I Model scored 128 before they were all out in 32.1 overs with Johny notching highest 32.

Russell of Scholastica captured three wickets for only 18 runs while Jawad took two for 21.

Scholastica will now face Willes Little Flower in the May 16 semifinal scheduled to be held at the same venue.
