THERE WAS an atmosphere of excitement at the Garrison Savannah on Thursday as the eighth annual West Indies Windball Cricket Championships got under way.

Flags fluttered in the wind; music, whistles, applause and screams filled the air and a spectrum of colours graced the eyes.

There were 36 teams from 11 countries taking part. Some opted for the seriousness of the competition and others were in it for the fun.
