CRICKET: Former Jamaica and West Indies opening batsman Basil Williams is the new chairman of the Jamaica cricket selection committee. Williams, who also served as captain and then manager of the Jamaica team, replaces Chester Watson as chairman.

The other two members of the committee are former Jamaica representative Linden Wright and former Melbourne captain and current manager Ruddy Williams.

At its regular monthly meeting at Sabina Park on Tuesday afternoon, the Jamaica Cricket Board of Control accepted a recommendation from its disciplinary committee to award the maximum six points to St. Catherine Cricket Club for their Senior Cup match against Portland at Chedwin Park.

St. Catherine is now on 31 points with their final match, against Boys' Town, scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday. Melbourne has already won the Senior Cup with 38 points.

Meanwhile, Jamaica's Laurie Williams and Leon Garrick are among West Indian Under-19 and A team cricketers who will attend the first West Indies Cricket Board's (WICB) Special Training Camp to be held at the Caribbean Cricket Centre in Antigua from May 18-27.

The other players invited are Sherwin Campbell, Stuart Williams, Junior Murray, Mervyn Dillon, Pedro Collins, Colin Stuart, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Floyd Reifer and Ricardo Hoyte.
