Mt. Lavinia magistrate's Court beat AG's team at cricket

Mount Lavinia Magistrates' Court cricket team led by the Additional District Judge and Chief Magistrate, Mount Lavinia Sarath de Abrew beat the Attorney General's team by four wickets in their annual limited over cricket match played at the S. Thomas' College grounds on Saturday.

The Attorney General Sarath N. Silva, PC and Additional Magistrate, Mount Lavinia Sarath Edirisinghe gave away the prizes to the winners.

The Man-of-the-Match and best batsman's award were won by Susil Panagoda of the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court. Best bowler was Duleep Jayakody of the Attorney General's Department.

The Chief Justice Mr. G. P. S. de Silva, Justice Priyantha Perera, Fisheries Minister Mahinda Rajapakse S. Thomas' College Warden Neville de Alwis, Chairman, Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited Aloy Ratnayake, PC, Additional Solicitors General D. P. Kumarasinghe, PC and C. R. de Silva, PC and several lawyers of the Mount Lavinia Courts and the Attortney General's Department graced the occcasion.

The Attorney General thanked the organisers for inviting him to the awards ceremony.

Mr. Sarath de Abrew who delivered the vote of thanks said that he greatly appreciated the work of the organising committee comprising Clinton Dabare, Ranjith Dahanayake, Saumya de Costa and Athula Ranagala assisted by members of the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's court and the staff.

He also thanked the warden of S.Thomas' College, Neville de Alwis and Mr. Dinesh Weerasinghe for the asistance given by them.

Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court 209 for 8 in 30 overs (Susil Panagoda 72 n.o, Pradeep Abeyratne 47, Sarath de Abrew 22 in 12 balls with four fours and K. Navaratne 22. Duleep Jayakody 4 for 34).

Attorney General's Department 167 for 9 (Duleep Jayakody 73, D. Gunasekera 22, Sarath de Abrew 2 for 14 and Susil Panagoda 2 for 38).
