Asia Cup shifted?
Our Sports Reporter
2 November 1998
The Eighth Asia Cup billed for a March 20,1999 start at the
Bangabandhu National Stadium, may now be held after World Cup 99 as
India have already expressed their inability to take part in the
four-nation biennial meet on account of remaining busy with their
preparation for the World Cup.
This was disclosed yesterday by Bangladesh Cricket Board president
Saber Hossain Chowdhury during the Wills International Cup final at
the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
``We are yet to receive an official note from the Asian Cricket
Council. We will talk it out very soon and maybe we will shift the
meet to early next season after the World Cup,'' said Saber.
``But this is for sure that the Asia Cup will be held in Dhaka next
year,'' Saber added.
