It is with much grief that the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka notes the sudden demise of Anura Ranasinghe, the former Nalanda captain, Sri Lanka Under 19 captain and Sri Lanka player at the prime age of 42 years.

At a very young age he turned out to be an outstanding all rounder and in view of the natural talent he possessed, he had the distinction of representing the country whilst being in school.

Anura's contribution to Sri Lanka cricket over a period of 10 years in which he played was with lots of dynamism and competitiveness.

The President and Members of the Executive Committee of the Board whilst saluting with much appreciation the honour and fame he has brought to his motherland, expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

May he attain Nibbana

Saliya Ahangama
Honorary Secretary, BCCSL
