Hampshire groundsman Nigel Gray has been named by ECB as the
``Groundsman of the Year'' for the second time. Gray was honoured in the
County Headquarters category, the second time in four years he has won
the award. He receives the Bernard Flack trophy and a UKP 1,600 prize.
46-year-old Gray has been with Hampshire for nine years. He joined the
county in 1989 as assistant groundsman before being appointed head
groundsman two years later.
Hampshire Chief Executive Tony Baker said; ``Nigel has done a
magnificent job for us this season and his award is fully merited. We
are fortunate to have such a capable groundsman on our staff and his
input will be vital as we prepare to develop our new ground at West
End.
