KARACHI, Nov 18 (AFP) - Key Pakistani batsmen Saeed Anwer and Inzamam-ul-Haq
are back in the team to play against Zimbabwe but ace pacer Waqar Younis is
still out, chief selector Wasim Bari said Wednesday.
The first one-day international against Zimbabwe is scheduled for November
20 at Gujranwala. ``Waqar has recovered from elbow injury but himself told us he needs
time to gain momentum,'' Bari said. The touring side will play three one-day matches and as many Tests dur=
ing its month-long tour.
Waqar injured his right elbow and has played just one first-class game since the Nat West Trophy match for Glamorgam in June. Waqar believes he will
be ready for the second or third one-day against Zimbabwe. Saeed Anwer, world record holder of the highest one-day innings, and
Inzamam missed the ICC mini world cup last month and later the one-day series against Australia due to fitness problems.
Pakistan had dropped experienced batsman Salim Malik from the list of 25 probables against Zimbabwe last week.
Malik has been labouring under accusations of match fixing and a betting controversy and was implicated in an interim report of a Probe Comittee
inquiring the scam.
``We are happy that Saeed and Izamam are back in the team and their inclusion will definitely strengthen the team,'' Bari said, adding ``Pakistan's
chances of winning against Zimbabwe are bright.'' Pakistan is still smarting from its miserable defeat against Australia
Australia won three Test series 1-0 and defeated Pakistan in all three one-day matches.
Team: Aamir Sohail (captain), Saeed Anwer, Ejaz Ahmed, Inzamam-ul Haq, Yousuf Yohanna, Azhar Mahmood, Moin Khan, Shahid Afridi, Saqlain Mushtaq,
Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhter, Hasan Raza, Mushtaq Ahmed and Mohammad Akram.
