Sri Lanka: Concrete wickets opened in Moneragala

Sri Lanka Test cricket captain, Arjuna Ranatunga, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka, Thilanga Sumathipala visited Moneragala district recently to declare open several side concrete wickets in the district.

Messrs Ranatunga, Sumathipala and several Board officials were received at Kataragama where they declared open concrete side wickets at the Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha, Kataragama Central College, Kumaradasa MV, Mallathawela MMV, and Royal Maha Vidyalaya in Moneragala.

Mr. Sumathipala assured that by promoting cricket in rural areas, several more rural children will get an opportunity to enter the Sri Lanka squad.

Skipper Ranatunga said that the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka has constructed 140 side wickets in several parts of the country and several pools for under-15, under-19, under-23, and second eleven will he held shortly to promote cricket in Sri Lanka.
