Sri Lanka's injured cricketers are well on their way to recovery prior to selection of the team for the World Series Cup in Australia in January.

Vice-captain Aravinda de Silva, who tore muscles in his left thigh while batting in the return match against Zimbabwe at Sharjah, is expected to be fit in a fortnight, according to Sri Lanka coach Roy Dias.

``Aravinda is undergoing physio therapy treatment and he is responding quickly,'' said Dias, who will need his team to be at full strength for the tough matches against Australia and England in the competition.

De Silva was medically advised to walk around on crutches lest he further aggravate his injury shortly after he returned from Sharjah.

Also undergoing similar treatment is ace off-spinner Muthiah Muralitharan for a damaged bowling arm which he sustained while fielding in the match against South Africa at Dhaka.

``He has almost 90 percent recovered from his injury,'' said Dias.

In the absence of team physio Alex Kountouri, who took a few days off to return to Australia (he is expected to return today), the injured cricketers are under treatment from the Cricket Board's physio Lal Thamal.

The good news for Sri Lanka is that lanky left-arm fast bowler Nuwan Zoysa has recovered from a side strain which he suffered in Sharjah. He is expected to play for SSC in the 3-day under 23 final against CCC starting on Friday at the SSC grounds.

All-rounder Upul Chandana has also been given a clean bill of health, after suffering from breathing problems in Sharjah, where he couldn't play in any of the four matches against India and Zimbabwe.

As Australia has given a deadline for the Sri Lanka squad to be announced for the tournament, it is very unlikely the selectors would pick a pool for training. The possibility is that they may announce the team of 15 players straightaway and go into training.
