Queen's Park Cricket Club have opened the tour of Australia on a winning note.

Less than 24 hours after arriving in Perth the Parkites - through inspired bowling from 17-year-old Rodney Sooklal who took five for 45 and Ricardo Paty two for 17, dismissed South Perth, the home club of Australian batsman Damian Martyn, for 182 in 50 overs.

Imran Jan - 84 not out and Andre Lawrence 68 not out, then saw Queen's Park to victory in 38.2 overs.

For their outstanding bowling, Paty and Sooklal were invited to join the England squad at training the following day at the WACA.

In the second match of the tour Gordon Awai, 45 not out, tried desperately to make it two in a row for Queen's Park, but the West Australian X1 which included Justin Laney and Mark Trescothick who play for Hampshire and Somerset respectively won the game by 50 runs.
