Good news for any cricket lover to wake up to - the West Indies tour
party
has arrived at Johannesburg International Airport.
The originally selected squad, with Brian Lara reinstated as captain, is
in
the country and will play their scheduled match against a Gauteng XI in
Soweto tomorrow. They will not, of course, play today's scheduled gala
match
at the Oppenheimer ground though that may sill be worked into the
itinerary. The 5 Test matches and 7 ODIs will be played as per the
original
schedule.
The players and team management refused to comment about the negotiations
this morning, but WICB chief Pat Rousseau said last night that although
the
negotiations had gone on longer than expected he had never countenanced
cancelling the tour.
No disciplinary action will be taken against any player.
