ACC Trophy: Bangladesh avail of new physio

From Al-Amin
7 October 1998

Doctor Mahfuzur Rahman is tagged with the Bangladesh cricket team in the capacity of physio. But his presence has hardly helped opener Shahriar Hossain to recover from a stiff neck.

Shahriar sustained the injury on his neek while fielding against Malaysia on October 5 and was carried off the ground with his neck locked. Mahfuz, a member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), tried heart and soul to alleviate Shariar's agony for the remaining part of the match but in vain.

Shahriar has however finally recovered. Thanks to Patricia, wife of Gordon Greenidge, who did the magic with a little knowledge of professional physio therapy. In was learnt the Patricia is currently running a health centre in Dhaka. Cynics say Mahfuzur Rahman availed the trip in the capacity of a board member in disguise of a physio. The BCB decision could prove vitally wrong.
