Maris Stella having been set a target of 185 runs for victory in 22 overs by Wesley were 45 for 1 at the close.
The dominant feature of this drawn game was the all-round performance of skipper Dharshika Jayakody at Campbell park.
Wesley who were sent in first on Tuesday, ran up what looked like a promising, formidable score of 288 for 3 declared at tea in 60 overs and 215 minutes.
This was mainly due to a scintillating knock by Wesley's prolific rungetter Dharshika Jayakody the skipper, who virtually dominated the day's play to be unbeaten with a blistering 171, having 23 hits past the ropes and 3 propelled over it. He was associated in a third wicket partnership of 196 runs with Dhanuska Dissanayake, who scored 73.
Maris Stella in reply, batting tentatively were 56 for 4 at the close on day 1 (Tuesday) and on resumption yesterday, were at one stage 6 for 85, but eventually got up to 208 due to a fine seventh wicket partnership of 115 runs, between Mevan Fernando 83 and Ashan Dias 52. Jayakody did as well with the ball, to take 4 for 14.
Wesley batting again enjoying a lead of 80 runs made 104 for 1 with Rakitha Wijetunge being unbeaten on 50 when Wesley declared. Having to make 185 runs for victory in 22 overs Maris Stella was 45 for 1 at the close.
