I must agree with Mr. Marshall that at no time did we have any conversation. I must also add that at no time did I tell anyone that we had.

The facts of the article in the SUN, however, remain totally accurate in relation to my position, re: the Combined Schools North.

From the date of the establishment of the two Combined Schools teams and continuing under successive presidents – Captain Peter Short, Cammie Smith and Tony Marshall – a cheque has been written in the names of the managers of both Combined Schools teams to cover such match expenses as umpires' fees, scorers' fees and bus fare assistance for the youngsters.

On Friday, August 28, I went to Kensington to collect this cheque, as I have done at the beginning of every match for the past ten years, and was informed by the office staff that both cheques had been written.

While the cheque for the Schools South was signed and duly collected by the manager, the president had not signed the cheque for the North, stating instead (as reported to me) that I should be given cash for the first day as I would have no part to play with that team after that first day.

I am not interested in any quarrels or petty side-comments, but would rather people to come to their own conclusions as I most certainly did.

We can waste our time in semantics but I think the truth will always surface.
