LAHORE, Sept 21: Former captain Wasim Akram has informed that he would be available to play for the Pakistan team during the forthcoming Test and one-day international cricket series against Australia and Zimbabwe.

The Pakistan Cricket Board Secretary Waqar Ahmad announced here on Monday that he had received an intimation from Wasim Akram about his arrival in Lahore latest by Sept 29 or even a couple of days before that date.

While talking about availability of Wasim Akram's long-time new-ball partner, Waqar Younis, the PCB Secretary said that the toe-crusher had requested to give the board a week's time for confirming whether he would be fit to play or not.

``The intermittent rains in the Punjab metropolis caused by monsoons has been hampering efforts of Waqar Younis to test and improve his physical condition'', said Waqar Ahmad.
