Australia's Gingarre Gorillas take home Fiji's Crompton Cup
Australian team, Gingarre Gorillas, has swept aside all opposition to take out Fiji's most coveted event, the three-nation, six-team Crompton Cup. The Victorian-based side snared the Cup, held in Lautoka over four days, with a 10 wicket win over Nadi in the final. Gingarre bundled Nadi out for 47 before replying with 49-0. The man-of-the-match in the final was Gingarre's W.Walsh who virtually defeated Nadi on his own, taking 15-3 and then hitting 34 not out (out of 49). In the play-offs for minor placings, Moce beat Tonga for third place, while Suva took fifth place through their victory over Lautoka. The easy final win was a surprise considering the margin between the two in the preliminary round 30-over-a-side encounter was just one run - Gingarre 167-8 to Nadi's 166-7.
