Bangladesh Cricketers in England Our Sports Reporter - 16 April 1999 The national cricket team reached England yesterday. The 15-man Bangladesh World Cup squad, which left on Wednesday by Emirates, flew into Cardiff in the afternoon. On their arrival in the Welsh capital, the team moved to Jarvis Hotel in Watford, London their base for the month-long conditioning camp. It was learnt that the team had a light practice session in a nearby ground. The first team to reach England one month ahead of the mega event, Bangladesh will play three practice matches against different county teams. The debutants will play their first World Cup match against New Zealand on May 17 at Chelmsford. The greatest cricketing event of the millennium, involving 12 teams including the nine Test playing nations, will kick-off on May 14 with the hosts taking on defending champions Sri Lanka at Lord's.
