Bangladesh: Indian HC beat The Daily Star Our Sports Reporter - 24 April 1999 Indian High Commission defeated The Daily Star by 29 runs in a friendly cricket match played at the BUET ground yesterday. The diplomats' captain Deputy High Commissioner Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty won the toss and decided to bat. They were all out for 128 in the last over of the 30-overs game. Opener Vipin Marula topscored with 26 while one-down Ranjan Mandal chipped in with 20. The Daily Star captain Morshed Ali Khan captured four wickets while Ziaul Karim and Abul Kalam Azad shared five wickets. In reply, The Daily Star were all out on 99 in 24 overs with lower middle-order Iresh Zaker hammering highest 15. Murtada, with 12, was the other notable run-getter. Sqn Ldr K K Khera returned with three wickets followed by Ranjan Mandal and Manoj, who took two wickets each.
