Bryan a star first time out The Barbados Nation - 12 April 1999 Hendy Bryan made a dream international cricket debut yesterday at the age of 29. The Barbadian fast-medium bowler won the Man-Of-The-Match award as West Indies beat Australia by 44 runs in the first match of the seven-game Cable and Wireless One-Day International series. Not only that, his haul of four for 24 was the best ever by a West Indian on a One-Day debut. Chasing the home side's modest 209 all out, the Australians subsided to 165 all out in 41.5 overs at Arnos Vale, St. Vincent. Another Barbadian, opener Sherwin Campbell, made a spirited 62 in the West Indies innings. Bryan's victims were Steve and Mark Waugh, all-rounder Shane Lee, and star One-Day batsman Michael Bevan. Asked to comment on his performance, the St. Lucy resident said: ``It is one that I wished for. It just came true.''
