The Jamaica Gleaner Jamaica Schools: Holmwood, STETHS back in final

It will be a repeat of last year's Headley Cup final after champions Holmwood Technical and St. Elizabeth Technical carved out contrasting victories in their respective Headley Cup semi-finals yesterday.

The final will be played over three days starting on Tuesday at a venue to be announced.

At St. Elizabeth Technical

Defending champions Holmwood Technical defeated arch rivals York Castle by a convincing five wickets.

Resuming on their overnight score of 115 for two and needing another 70 runs for victory, Holmwood lost five wickets before reaching their target yesterday.

Lanslot Warren with 37, Kevin Wynter 34, Dwayne Ewart 33, Junior Lawrence 14, Gary Graham 35 not out and Odean Brown unbeaten on eight scored most runs for the defending champions with Derwin Hillock the best of the York Castle bowlers taking 2-42.

Scores: York Castle 185 (Rashard Marshall 89, Derwin Hillock 26; Evon McInnis 4-35, Kevin Peart 4-57); Holmwood Technical 186 for five.

At Manchester High

Former national Under-15 pacer Kamal Dennis bagged six wickets for 26 from 12 overs, while Nikita Miller took three wickets for three runs from three overs as STETHS routed Vere Technical to win by an emphatic 114 runs.

Vere Technical, resuming on their overnight 25 for two, added only 56 more runs yesterday as Dimitrus Francis with 23 and national Under-15 allrounder Omar Campbell with 20, were the only Vere batsmen to offer any form of resistance.

Scores: STETHS 195 (Dalwin Russell 38, Brenton Parchment 35, Mel Wint 32, Nikita Miller 22 n.o.); Vere Technical 81.
