Jamaica Schools: J. Grant hunt three-peat Versel Thompson - 20 April 1999 Jonathan Grant will seek their third consecutive appearance in the Sunlight Cup final when they oppose first time semi-finalists Bridgeport Comprehensive at Bridgeport, in the third and final round of semi-final matches which are scheduled for today and tomorrow. In other matches, champions Kingston College host St. Jago at Melbourne Park, Elletson Road, St. Andrew Technical (STATHS) oppose Waterford at Maxfield Park, and Wolmer's will oppose St. George's College at Heroes Circle. All matches are scheduled to start at 10:30 each morning. With St. George's College, Wolmer's, Bridgeport and St. Jago losing in the earlier rounds of the semi-finals, last year's beaten finalists Jonathan Grant High need to win outright against Bridgeport to qualify for the April 26-27 final, even if Waterford win against STATHS. Kingston College with two victories, however, need only a draw against St. Jago who lost to St. George's College. Jonathan Grant, coached by Devon Buchanan, defeated St. Andrew Technical and drew with Waterford in a rain-affected contest. In their quest for victory, Jonathan Grant, which won the Tappin Cup knockout competition, will look mainly to captain and Jamaica Under-19 allrounder Tamar Lambert. Lambert hit his maiden Senior Cup century (119) which steered St. Catherine C.C. to an emphatic innings and 19-run victory over St. Thomas in the Rothman's Surrey Senior Cup competition at the weekend. Besides their captain, Jonathan Grant will also look to Jamaica Under-15 allrounder Andre O'Sullivan, David Harrison, Gerald Morgan, Greg Hare, Roshane Ferron, Howard Walters and Richard Lewin, to lead their charge. Bridgeport, last year's Colts champions who are prepared by Alfred Johnson and Anthony Patrick, will look to top performers Camelio Ricketts and Maurice Evans who made 39 runs and took 5-22 respectively against Waterford, along with captain Damian Douglas, Ryan Clarke, Christopher Hopwood, Omar Haynes, Craig Dawkins and Orane Cunningham, to set up a victory. The Roy McLean-coached Kingston College will look for winning contributions from their key players allrounder Marlon Samuels, captain and opening batsman Sean Cousley and pacer Andrew Richardson, Martin Isaacs, Lincoln Granston and Orville Clarke. St. Jago will look to Raymond Smith who made 136 and pacer Calvin Walsh who bagged 6-72 in their 23-run victory over Wolmer's last week, along with Ryan Campbell who made 48 and captain Lindo Christie, who's contribution was 35.
