KARACHI, April 19: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will appoint a new technical coach after Richard Pybus was stopped by his parent organization to help the Pakistan cricket team in the World Cup beginning next month on 14th.

The chairman of the PCB, Khalid Mahmood said on Monday evening that Pybus was one of the so many options that was available with the PCB. ``Now if he has been stopped by the South African board, the PCB will look into other options.

``As far as the PCB is concerned, it is purely a matter between Pybus and South African board. We appointed him because he had confirmed his availability.''

However, Mahmood stressed that a technical coach would be appointed ``because the World Cup was a prestigious event and this particular job was a scientific, specialized and research field.''

Justifying the necessity of a technical coach, the PCB chairman said the man would advice, recommend and brief the Pakistan team about the strengths and weakness of the opposition, condition of the ground, behaviour of the wickets etc.

``He would be assisting Javed Miandad who could be looking after the training, fitness and other aspects of the team. In the background of all the teams bringing three officials with the team, he also thought that we should strengthen our coaching departments and that's precisely why a technical coach was required.''

He argued that the technical coach would not only be working out plans for the World Cup ``but for every match, every day and probably every session.''

Asked how an English-speaking technical coach would communicate with the players, he said: ``It is not going to be a monologue but a dialogue. If the players couldn't understand English, we have a manager who can fluently speak Urdu and Punjabi. Besides, I am sure that the players would quickly learn to speak and understand English because they are very intelligent.''
