Pakistan: South African appointed as technical coach Our Sports Reporter - 15 April 1999 Pakistan leave for England on 27th April LAHORE, April 14: Special arrangements for acclimatisation and training of Pakistan cricket team in England have been made for its preparation for the World Cup. The team is scheduled to fly by Emirates Airlines for Birmingham on April 27. No training camp is being organised for the team in Pakistan in view of the ongoing National One-Day Cricket Championship. However, the players will continue training on their own. A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesman announced in Lahore on Wednesday that services of some specialists, residing in England, have also been acquired to assist in improvement of physical fitness and health of players and to facilitate administrative matters of the team. The team will continue practising in Britain besides playing some warm-up matches before the start of the World Cup on May 14. Raja Khan, a Pakistani residing in England, has been appointed as Assistant Tour Manager and he will act as a liaison officer. He will assist the team management in handling the local administrative affairs. South Africa's Richard Pybus has been appointed Technical Coach and Physical Fitness Trainer. He will be helping in acclimatisation period of the team when it arrives in England on April 27. The Pakistani physicians working in the Cromwell Hospital namely, Dr Haroon Muhammad and Dr N. M. Qureshi will be medical consultants of the team during its stay in Britain for the World Cup. The experts will also help in mental tuning of players besides physically preparing them for the big event like the World Cup. Former BCCP secretary and a senior bureaucrat Dr Zafar Altaf (himself a reputed first-class) cricketer had already been appointed as manager of the team while Dr Dan Kiesel is the physiotherapist. The 15-member team consists of the following players: Wasim Akram (captain), Moin Khan (vice-captain), Saeed Anwar, Shahid Afridi, Wajahatullah Wasti, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Ejaz Ahmad, Salim Malik, Yousaf Youhanna, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, Azhar Mahmood, Abdul Razzaq, Mushtaq Ahmad, Saqlain Mushtaq.
