Sri Lanka Observer-Bata Contest: Change at the top spot

Anandian Eashan Abeysinghe toppled Royalist skipper Thusan Amerasuriya from the top post after count on coupon No. 10 in the Observer-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest. Abeysinghe who was second after count on coupon No. 9, took top spot after count No. 10, having received 3,502 votes. P>There was another change in the voting. Muditha Maduwanta of D.S. Senanayake College who was lying third the previous week, has now climbed up to second spot with 3,496 votes, while Thusan Amerasuriya who was the leader for several weeks has dropped down to third position after count No. 10 with 3,342 votes.

Coupon number 12 will be the last coupon in the series. This coupon appears today and will be continued in The Observer from Monday, April 5 until Friday April 9. Voting on coupon No. 12 will end on Thursday, April 15 and results will be published in the Sunday Observer of April 18.

It all points to a close contest between the three front runners in the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year, with just six votes separating the first and second.

There were no changes in the top positions in the Most Popular Outstation Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest, with last week's leader Kasun Bulalthsinghala of Maris Stella keeping his lead. He has so far polled 2,912 votes after count on coupon No. 10, while his schoolmate Ishan Mutaliph is second with 1,370 votes.
