Jayasuriya blast helps Bloomfield

Opener Sanath Jayasuriya hammered a sparkling century as Bloomfield completed a first innings win over Sebastianites in their Premier Championship cricket tournament match concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Jayasuriya who was dismissed for 90 in the first innings went on to hit a superb 109 with the help of six sixes and ten boundaries. Earlier Sebastianites were dismissed for their overnight total of 240 with Jayasuriya capturing the last wicket to finish with figures of 2 for 4.

Scores:

Bloomfield: 358 and 276 (S. Jayasuriya 109, R. Mahanama 31, K. Dharmasena 30, P. Wickremasinghe 34 n.o, H. Alles 32, D. Seneviratne 4 for 45, A. Jabbar 3 for 49).

Sebastianites: 240 for 9 cont 240 (S. Jayasuriya 2 for 4) and 41 for 2 (S. Silva 16, T.M. Dilshan 11).

Arnold double 'ton'

Opener Russel Arnold hit an unbeaten double century as NCC forced a draw to their Premier Championship cricket tournament match against Galle CC concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

Arnold hoisted two sixes and struck 15 boundaries and was also associated in a massive second wicket stand of 226 runs along with Naveed Navaz.

Scores:

Galle CC: 298.

NCC: 142 and 438 for 4 (R. Arnold 200 n.o, P. Hewage 15, N. Navaz 96, P. Jayawardena 73, G. Perera 2 for 87).

BRC on 1st innings

BRC defeated Kurunegala YCC on the first innings in their Premier Championship cricket tournament match concluded at the Welagedera Stadium yesterday.

Scores:

BRC: 261 and 152 for 2 (N. Bopage 64 n.o, I. Batuvitarachchi 76).

Kurunegala YCC: 131 for 7 cont 231 (H. Liyanage 62, W. Munasinghe 38, W. Labrooy 3 for 77, D. Madurapperuma 3 for 42, C. Mudalige 2 for 43, S. Rajapaksa 2 for 12).
