Two aggressive knocks by Thusitha Bandara 86 (12 fours) and Sarath Dharmasena 87 (14 fours) helped Diyatillake Central College, Hanguranketha to become champions at the inaugural triangular limited over cricket tournament for the S. B. Dissanayake Challenge trophy donated by the Minister of Sports when they defeated Poramadulla Central College, Rikillagaskada by 120 runs in the finals played before a large crowdat the Reservoir grounds, Hanguranketha.

Also starring in Diyatillake Central's win was medium pacer Ananda Jayasekera who captured 5 for 26.
