Sri Lanka: LMD World Cup Supplement
The Daily News - 21 April 1999

LMD, Sri Lanka's business and leisure magazine will be publishing a World Cup Supplement, to be issued free with its May issue. The Supplement will be available at retail outlets a week before the World Cup begins - Sri Lanka plays England in the curtain-raiser, at Lord's, on May 14. All subscribers to LMD receive the Supplement free.

Media Services, the publishers of LMD, say that the Supplement, a guide to Sri Lanka's defence of the World Championship, will contain 50-plus colour pages, including contributions from Anura Tennekoon, Sidath Wettimuny, Michael Roberts, Mahinda Wijesinghe, and Wisden. Features in the Supplement includes a nostalgic look-back at Sri Lanka's road to the World Championship, in 1996; statistical profiles of the entire Sri Lankan squad; a comparison of the One-day records of all Test-playing nations since the last World Cup; a complete guide to the wrold Cup fixtures - including scorecards; and a trip down the memory lane of Sri Lankan cricket, with a selection of a Greatest-ever Sri Lankan XI. Media Services envisions this supplement becoming a collector's item - and an essential guide for fans of the defending Wrold Champions.

In Addition, a One-day Wrold XI has been selected by Anura Tennekoon, Michael Tissera, Ranjan Madugalle, Sidath Wettimuny and Mahinda Wijesinghe - and LMD is running a competition for readers to match the experts' XI. Readers are invited to send in their nominations in batting order, including a captain and twelfth man - to LMD. Prizes include return air-tickets to Bangkok, full-board weekend vouchers to some of the country's leading resorts, and vouchers to some of Colombo's finest restaurants.
