- Curtly Ambrose became the seventh-highest wicket-taker in Tests,
overtaking Pakistan's Imran Khan with 366 wickets in 88 matches.
- It was the 22nd time Ambrose has captured five or more wickets in
an innings.
- In Brian Lara's 82-ball century was the third fastest 100 by a
West Indian, behind Viv Richards' 56-ball effort against England on
the same ground in 1986 and left-handed opener Roy Fredericks' 71-ball
century against Australia in Perth,1975-76.
- It was Lara's 13th hundred in 63 Tests, his fifth against
Australia and his third at the Recreation Ground
- It was the second time Lara had made three centuries in successive
Tests. The previous was in England in 1996.
- Lara passed 500 runs in the series when he was 61.
- Arthur Barrett, former West Indies legspinner, was born 55 years
ago today in Jamaica.
- Sir Garry Sobers and Rohan Kanhai, ex-West Indies captains, played
their last day of Test cricket on this day in 1974.
