One-Day games to play in Toronto Tony Cozier - 25 August 1999 The West Indies are likely to play One-Day Internationals against Pakistan and India in Toronto next month as a replacement for the cancelled annual Sahara Cup tournament. Chief executive Steve Camacho said yesterday that the West Indies Cricket Board is considering an offer from the organisers, the International Management Group (IMG), to play three matches against Pakistan and possibly two against India from September 11 to 20. All would be televised internationally. ``We are in negotiation with IMG and should be soon able to make a final decision,'' Camacho said. An unnamed IMG official, quoted in the Pakistani Press, said when dates were finalised, Pakistan would get priority. ``We will first accommodate Pakistan and will then consider India, `` he was quoted as saying. He said the profits of the two series would be equally shared by the IMG, Pakistan and India while the West Indies would be paid a guaranteed sum. If ratified, the West Indies team would fly to Toronto from Singapore where they will be engaged in a tournament also involving India and Zimbabwe that ends September 8. The Sahara Cup, a five-match series between India and Pakistan that has been held at the Toronto Skating and Curling Club over the past three years specially for televised transmission back to the sub-continent, was abandoned last week. India withdrew on the advice of the government which said it would be ``inappropriate'' to play against Pakistan in light of the recent military action between the two nations over the disputed territory of Kashmir.
