Ryan Hinds walked away with the lion's share of awards including the top prize, but there was controversy over two awards at the closing dinner of the Nortel Networks Championship at the Sherbourne Conference Centre Sunday night.

Hinds, captain of three-day champions Barbados, earned the MVP award on the strength of his 487 runs (ave.81.16) and his six wickets. His prize was the Learie Constantine Trophy.

He also won the Julian Trophy, which went to the tournament's leading run-scorer.

There was much hullabaloo over the Jackie Hendriks Trophy, which was to be awarded to the wicket-keeper with the most dismissals.

It was presented to Barbados' Damien Maynard, who effected ten dismissals, but Jamaican Mel Wint claimed 12 victims.

The Franz Botek Trophy, awarded to the player with the most outstanding performance in a match, went to Guyanese left-arm spinner Hemnarine Harrinarine for his hauls of 8-31 and 0-29 in the opening match against the Nortel Development XI.

He just edged out fellow Guyanese off-spinner Orvin Mangru, who took a record haul of nine for 116 against Barbados; Jamaica's Marlon Samuels, who scored 119 and 36, in addition to his three wickets against Barbados in the semifinals; and Barbados' Kurk Wilkinson, who scored 75 and 119 retired hurt in the final against Trinidad and Tobago.
