Enfield smashed a club record and professional Dave Saker also had a hat-trick to celebrate as they demolished Rishton at Dill Hall Lane.

A massive opening partnership of 229 between Andy Barker (113) and Russ Edmonds (107 not out) beat the previous best of 207 and put Enfield in an invincible position on 238-2.

Barker hit 15 fours and a six, with Edmonds striking 14 boundaries. There were only a couple of overs remaining when the pair were finally parted - by a run out!

Rishton never looked remotely like getting the runs and their middle order was destroyed by a Saker hat-trick, skipper John Seedle and youngsters Richard Rostron and Sam Hacking being his victims.

Only three Rishton batsmen reached double figures, although they did manage to reach respectability at 124 after plunging to 21-5.

Professional Roger Harper gave a match-winning performance to keep Nelson firing on all cylinders near the top of the table as they beat Ramsbottom by eight wickets.

However it wasn't all plain sailing for the champions or for Harper, who was frequently beaten by an impressive Ramsbottom attack and survived a difficult early chance.

However, the West Indian hung in and came good along with Paul Garraghty as the pair put on an unbeaten 134 to seal victory. Harper finished unbeaten on 79 and Garraghty on 52 as Nelson, who were 24-2 after 15 overs, got home with three overs to spare.

Nelson picked up maximum points after dismissing the home side for 156 as Harper picked up 6-57, including the wicket of Ramsbottom skipper Brian Taylor, who played on after top-scoring with 43.

Anthony Botha helped Burnley to a four-wicket win over Todmorden on his last appearance at Turf Moor before flying home to South Africa last night to get married.

Botha picked up a couple of wickets as Todmorden were restricted to 145-6.

And the professional then hit his joint top score of the season as he made 65, with six fours and a six, in Burnley's successful run-chase. Botha's 50 came off 82 balls and captain Andy McLeod chipped in with 23 as Burnley eased home, despite slowing to a crawl after McLeod's dismissal.

Colne professional Joe Scuderi took 5-30 to set up his side's three wicket victory over Bacup at The Horsfield.

Scuderi snapped up three early victims as Bacup slumped to 19-5.

Terry Lord (30) and John Chapman (41) then masterminded a mini revival before the visitors were ousted for 120 inside 39 overs.

Colne lost two early wickets, including Scuderi for two, as they mounted a reply. But they had little trouble in knocking them off once opener Gary Hunt (39) got himself set and they wrapped up victory with nine overs to spare despite Brad White's haul of 5-22.

Church skipper Mark Aspin turned in a truly remarkable bowling performance to skittle out Haslingden for a paltry 59. Aspin claimed 7-15 with his medium pacers while his professional McGarrell toiled without a single success.

Aspin didn't need much support from his amateur colleagues either clean bowling four, getting another lbw and also taking a great catch off his own bowling.

Church took just 17 overs to chalk up a great win and claim 12 muchneeded points.

Rawtenstall stepped up their bid to finish away from the foot of the table by beating Lowerhouse by 26 runs.

Keith Roscoe's five-wicket haul spun Lowerhouse to defeat as they slumped to 81 all out.

All-rounder Peter Seal also weighed in with three wickets at the cost of just five runs after earlier top-scoring with 31 as the home side reached 107.
