Tendulkar uncertain for key Cup match
The Daily News - 29 August 1999

Sachin Tendulkar is doubtful for India's crucial last qualifying match of the Aiwa Cup triangular tournament against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

Captain Tendulkar decided to rest his stiff back and missed his side's 41-run defeat by Australia on Saturday.

Tendulkar said: ``I don't even like to miss out on a practice session and here I had to miss a crucial match.

``I have to see how I feel tomorrow. It was just stiffness, but I have to check again. When I woke up this morning I felt stiff.''

Tendulkar nearly missed the limited overs tournament here after straining his back and left the team's training sessions before their arrival.

He missed two limited over tournaments in India and Sharjah earlier this year after suffering excruciating back spasms.

India must beat Sri Lanka to have any chance of reaching the Aiwa Cup final for which Australia have already qualified.
