Norfolk triumph in Sun Life of Canada U15 Final
Media Release - 26 August 1999

Horsford Cricket Club from Norfolk are the new Sun Life of Canada Under 15 Club Champions after a dramatic last-ball victory over Bournemouth in this year's final staged at North Hants and Basingstoke C.C. this week. Horsford, beaten semi-finalists in 1995 and 1998, overcame their Dorset opponents by five wickets in a final restricted to 15 overs-a-side by the bad weather.

Jim Denning top-scored for Bournemouth with 52 not out while Horsford's heroes were Anthony Reeve who took 4-13 and their captain John Sutton with an unbeaten 35. Mark Sismey-Durrant, Managing Director of Sun Bank and Marketing Director of Sun Life of Canada, presented the Harry Secombe trophy to victorious captain, John Sutton, and David Gower presented medals to Bournemouth and the losing semi-finalists, Knebworth Park (Herts) and Old Xaverians (Lancashire)

England fast bowlers Darren Gough and Alex Tudor were also among the guests at the final together with Derek Randall, David Lloyd and Bill Frindall. A record entry of around 1500 teams entered this summer's 20-Overs-a-side competition.

Nasser Hussain, Andy Flintoff and Graham Thorpe are among a number of leading cricketers who have participated in the competition.
