Dawn Quaid-i-Azam Trophy: Murtuza spins KRL to innings victory

Islamabad, Nov 30: Off-spinner Murtaza Hussain bowled Khan Research Laboratory (KRL) to an innings and 53 runs victory over Faisalabad on the last day of the four-day Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, according to information made available here on Tuesday.

Murtuza followed up his first innings figures of 6 for 58 with five for 96 for match figures of 11 for 154.

Murtuza's performance helped KRL dismiss the home team for 272 in the second innings a stroke before tea after being forced to follow on.

Faisalabad were bowled out for 182 in first innings. KRL had collected a mammoth 507 for six before declaring their innings.

For Faisalabad, Saadat Gul's defiant 89 off 206 balls, opener Javed Iqbal's 55 off 168 balls and Mohammad Zaman's 33 delayed KRL's victory. KRL dominated the proceedings from the very outset after they had won the toss.

Their openers Saeed Anwar Jr. and Iftikhar Hussain put up a 200 runs partnership. Saeed Jr slammed 112 off 206 balls with the help of 13 fours and Iftikhar Hussain hammered 151 (324balls). Then Moazaam Ali cracked 75 from 102 balls including 10 boundaries. Saeed bin Nisar (57 off 143) and Intikhab Alam (49 off 96) were the other contributors in KRL huge total.
