Rogers answers Warriors S.O.S.
Western Australia Cricket Association - 8 December 1999

Western Warriors batsman Chris Rogers has been called into the WA squad to replace ill team-mate Simon Katich for the Pura Milk Cup match against Queensland starting at the Gabba on Thursday, December 9.

Katich, who has been suffering from a virus for the past week, will return home on medical advice, while Rogers will join the WA squad in Brisbane later today.

Rogers, a 22-year-old left-hander from University, has played five first-class matches for WA.

Acting captain Damien Martyn, who missed yesterday's Mercantile Mutual Cup match with a back injury, travelled north to Brisbane with his WA team-mates this morning and his condition will be monitored in the lead-up to the crucial clash with the Bulls.

The Warriors have made a disappointing start to their title defence and sit second last on the Pura Milk Cup table with four points from four matches.
