Imran replaces Burki on ICC panel 7 December 1999
Lahore, Dec 7: Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed the cricket legend Imran Khan as its representative on the International Cricket Council's panel on illegal deliveries in place of Javed Burki. The PCB secretary Shafqat Rana while officially announcing the decision on Tuesday said that former Pakistan captain Imran Khan would prove very helpful in dealing with the allegation of chucking on Pakistani bowlers. Imran had categorically ruled out such allegations about pacer Shoaib Akhtar. He said that the decision was taken with the consent of Imran Khan who has turned politician. He said that as a fast bowler and prominent figure in the world of cricket Imran Khan had more weight than Javed Burki to defend Pakistan's case. Both Shoaib Akhtar and Shabbir Ahmad are facing chucking allegations. © Dawn
