Razzaq to undergo fitness test 11 December 1999
Karachi, Dec 10: Pakistan selectors have picked all-rounder Abdur Razzaq for the tri-nation series despite the fact that the player is nursing injury. According to team sources, Razzaq has a groin injury which sidelined him for the last two Tests against Australia. Team sources said he didn't train in Australia with the Pakistan team after being advised at least six weeks rest by team physiotherapist. A selector, on the condition of anonymity, said Abdur Razzaq's injury was not brought to selectors notice. "For us, he was available for selection. Now if there are fitness doubts over him, we will try to see him in the conditioning camp in Lahore." The selector didn't rule out the possibility of withdrawing Razzaq. "If Razzaq fails a fitness test, he will be replaced immediately because the team can't afford to be one short for at least 10 one-day internationals that might be increased if the team qualifies for the best-of-three finals," the selector said. © Dawn
