Western Fury into first-ever finals series Western Australia Cricket Association - 13 December 1999
Western Fury, WA's team in the Women's National Cricket League, is through to its first-ever finals appearance after a thrilling end to the home-and-away season at Steven's Reserve in Fremantle today. Fury downed South Australia in both one-day matches this weekend to overtake Victoria in second spot and qualify for the decider against reigning champions New South Wales in Sydney. The finals are a best-of-three format, to be played at the SCG over three days from Friday, 17 December to Sunday, 19 December, 1999. Matches are one-day clashes, 50 overs per side. Fury secured a place with a big win over the SA Scorpions today. Cherie Bambury was the star of the day with four wickets and an unbeaten 75. Western Fury v SA Scorpions, Sunday, 12 December, 1999-12-12 South Australia 8-124 (50 overs). Allyson Kennelly 52, Heather Booth 15, Cherie Bambury 4-23, Dianne Brown 2-25 defeated by Western Fury 3-127 (26.1 overs). Cherie Bambury 75no, Angele Gray 33.
