Dawn Naumanullah slams century as Redco take 1st innings lead

Lahore, Dec 17: Despite devastating bowling by Peshawar's paceman Nauman Habib (seven for 89) Redco were well served by Naumanullah (143) to gain a big 179-run lead on the first innings the second day of their Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy match here at the LCCA ground on Friday.

Redco replying to Peshawar's 91, resumed their first innings on Friday at 156 for four and were all out for 270 in 71.3 overs.

At the close of play, Peshawar in their second innings were at 79 for three still 100 runs behind to avert an innings defeat. Opener Sajjad Ali (26) and Zulifqar Jan (15) were at the crease.

Redco's overnight pair of Naumanullah and Shabbir Khan began their innings with individual score of 53 and12, respectively. Their fifth wicket partnership of 116 minutes was finally ended at 197 when Shabbir Khan was caught by Zulifqar off Nauman Habib for 34.

Nauman Habib claimed four mre wickets to finish with seven for 89 in 24 overs.

Naumanullah, could not find any reliable ally and was caught by Munsif Khan off leg-spinner Fazal Akbar for a solid 143 studded with 22 boundaries and one six. He batted for 224 minutes. Fazal Akbar took two wickets for 43.
