The Barbados Nation WI local: Champs Police fully loaded
19 December 1999

Courts Suzuki Division 1 cricket champions Stansfeld Scott Police were presented yesterday with the keys to their prize, a $45 000 Suzuki Baleno.

Captain Leslie Reifer said that he and the team were pleased with their repeat championship performance in this year’s competition.

“We had a very good season and played good cricket,” said the overjoyed captain after their final match ended in an eight-wicket victory over E.S.A. Field Pickwick at Weymouth yesterday.

Reifer said that plans had already been made regarding the vehicle.

“We will sell the car and put the funds back into the club,” he said.

Acting president of the Barbados Cricket Association Stephen Alleyne complimented Police on their triumph.

“It is a tribute to team work and discipline,” he said.

Mark Wood and Julia Chase, sales executives of Simpson Motors, agents for Suzuki, made the presentation.

Police have a chance of doing the BCA double when they meet Cable & Wireless BET in the final of the Barbados Fire and Commercial Cup knockout competition at Kensington today.
