India Local: Indrajit stars in J & K's victory

Opening batsman Indrajit Singh hit 121 off 117 balls with 13 fours and a six as Jammu & Kashmir defeated Daman & Diu by 143 runs in the under-19 National schools championship at the Salwan school grounds in Delhi on Friday.

Batting first, J & K hit 260 for nine in 40 overs. Indrajit and Halil Ahmed (31) put on 121 runs for the first wicket off just 13 overs. In reply, medium pacer Abid took five for 24 as Daman & Diu were shot out for 117.

Opening batsman Nachiket with 75 shone in Maharashtra's 40 run victory over Andhra at the Delhi University grounds. Batting first, Maharashtra scored 175 for five in the allotted 25 overs. Nachiket and Rohit added 87 runs for the second wicket. In reply Andhra were restricted to 135 for eight in 25 overs with Swapnil top scoring with an unbeaten 47.

Chandigarh coasted to an eight wicket victory over Bihar at the Khalsa college ground. Put in to bat, Bihar were all out for 106 in 30 overs. Chandigarh lost two wickets for nine runs, but Amit Sharma (27 off 47 balls with four fours) and skipper Rajat Bhandari (53 off 92 balls with seven fours) with an unbeaten stand of 100 runs for the third wicket off 21.1 overs steered Chandigarh to a comfortable victory.

Earlier Bihar defeated Gujarat by seven wickets at the Delhi University grounds. Medium pacer Dinesh took four for 14 as Gujarat were all out for 72 runs in 23.1 overs. Bihar coasted to victory in 21 overs.

Haryana defeated Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan by eight wickets at the Delhi University grounds. Put in to bat Kendriya Vidyalaya were all out for 131 with opener Nikhil Kumar top scoring with 47. Haryana raced to victory in 28.2 overs.
