Fairfield Liverpool v Balmain

First Grade

Week 1

Fairfield Liverpool First Grade will be chasing a large total next week with Balmain 9 for 307 after 100 overs. Balmain was in trouble at one stage at 3 for 38 but recovered to post a healthy total. Best of the bowlers was Anthony Clark with 3 for 61 and Grant Lambert 2 for 74.

Week 2

Fairfield Liverpool First Grade were all out for 167 runs after Balmain declared their first innings closed 9 for 307. Balmain were 2 for 57 in their second innings when play was stopped. Fairfield Liverpool lost early wickets on a dicey wicket and were at one stage 5 for 64. Anthony Clark 60 top scored with Keith Greenbank 24 the next highest. Anthony Clark took the only wicket with 1 for 14 in Balmain's second innings.

Next week all Grades play Hawkesbury in a one day game. First, Third and Fifth grades are away with Second grade at Rosedale Oval and Fourth grade at Fairfield Oval.

Second Grade

Second Grade have already earned first innings points after bowling Balmain out for 123 and finishing the day 5 for 158. Paul Cotter 4 for 42 and Gerard Johnston 3 for 19 were the best of the bowlers with Mitchell Yearsley also taking 2 for 56. In Fairfield Liverpool's innings Mark Liddell is 53 not out and Ben Rohrer 41 were the best of the batsmen.

Second Grade beat Balmain outright after declaring 8 for 241 and bowling Balmain out for 76 in there second innings. Mark Liddell scored 106 not out after resuming on 53 not out from the previous week. Best of the bowlers was Jason Coleman who finished with 5 for 11 and Paul Cotter 2 for 26.

Third Grade

Third Grade is in a handy position after dismissing Balmain for 166 and finishing the day 0 for 9. Billy York finished with the excellent figures of 5 for 21 off 26 overs with Andrew Stassen 2 for 24.

Third Grade won their game passing Balmain's score with 5 wickets down for 168 runs. Best of the batsmen was Mark Richardson remaining 70 not out and Matt Ballantine 39.

Fourth Grade

Fourth Grade was all out for 244 with Balmain 1 for 4 at stumps. Adam Mortimer remained 64 not out with Ben Mclure scoring 49 the next best. John Baker also scored 47 with David Lewis taking the only Balmain wicket to fall.

Fourth Grade were beaten by Balmain who were 5 for 258 when play was stopped. Clint Indrele 2 for 48 and David Lewis 2 for 52 were the pick of the bowlers.

Fifth Grade

Fifth Grade can win next week if they bowl well. After winning the toss Fairfield Liverpool batted and were all out for 158. Best of the batsmen was Micheal Pickham 30 and Coach Ron Harivel 23 not out. Ron took up the challenge after some last minute withdrawals and batted well. Balmain are 3 for 24 with Captain Jason Gynn 1 for 0 and both Peter Bastow and Simon Boss 1 for 11.

Fifth Grade won after bowling Balmain out for 124. Best of the bowlers was Captain Jason Gynn with 3 for 27 and Matt Harivel 2 for none off 3 balls. Fairfield batted again and were 2 for 81 when stumps were drawn. Hoe Le 40 not out and Keegan Hendricks 26 not out gained some valuable batting practice in the second innings.
