Danes plan trip to Zimbabwe as warm-up for NatWest Trophy

Denmark's build-up for it's NatWest Trophy debut will start next month with a six-match pre-season visit to Zimbabwe. The tour will mainly comprise matches against Zimbabwe's Logan Cup teams.

The squad is: Peer Jensen (Capt.) (Glostrup CC), Morten Hedegaard Andersen (Vice-Capt.) (Herning CC), Mohammed Saddique (wk) (Svanholm CC), Carsten Pedersen (Herning CC), Soren Klitgaard Kristensen (Alborg Chang), Thomas Hansen (Hampshire), Lars Hedegaard Andersen (Herning CC), Amjad Khan (KB), Aftab Ahmed (Narrebro), Peter Thomsen (Glostrup CC), Baljit Singh (KB), Dennis Zachariasson (Svanholm CC), Jan Overgaard (Svanholm CC); Reserve - Atif Butt (Narrebro).

The hectic schedule, which includes six matches in seven days is: March 12 - vs. Mashonaland (Harare Sports Club); Mar. 13 - vs. Mashonaland Districts (Harare South), Mar. 14 - vs Zimbabwe Academy X1 (Old Hararians); Mar. 16 - vs. Manicaland (Mutare Sports Club). Mar. 18 - Matabeleland Districts (Good Hope C.C.), Mar. 19 - vs. Matabeleland (Bulawayo Athletic Club).

The tour should provide invaluable match practice for Denmark's NatWest Trophy debut against Kent on May 4. Denmark's Trophy preparations will be rounded off will practice in English conditions against the MCC on May 4 at Shenley. The domestic season begins on the weekend of April 17-18 with the first round of the Knockout Cup. The Elite Division starts on the weekend of May 8-9.
