How the Australian LOI record has moved
Atul Kahate - 8 February 1999

It would be interesting to note how the Australian record for the highest score in an innings in a Limited Overs International match has moved, in the background of Adam Gilchrist's 154 on Sunday against Sri Lanka. It stood at less than a hundred for four years until Alan Turner scored Australia's first hundred at this level.

In the recent past, Dean Jones increased the record to 145 in 1990-91, and it remained the national record, although Ricky Ponting came very close to beating it last year against Zimbabwe only to ultimately equal it. Gilchrist thus becomes the first Aussie to score a 150 in these matches.

The following table examines the progress of the Australian record for the highest score in LOI matches, the benchmark being 50.
